With whom did you discuss your doubts?

one sunday last fall, i read the bible online since i couldn't attend the meeting.

i was careful to read only the kjv.

the problem was i read a verse that was different from what i remembered fro the nwt.

Funny how the JWs always say.."Well they must have been fault finding...." etc...though that may be the case with some,most stumble across information that opens "Pandoras Box" for them.

I left because of questions that arose after watching a movie, "National Treasurer". Here is my story..as crazy as it seems. Many JWs said when hearing my story that they didn't believe it..but Holy Spirit is a powerful thing when you are searching for the truth!!

We did not share our doubts at first with anyone except for my husband told his JW parents..then his Mother who told us we could confide in her decided to tell EVERYONE!! That was the begining of the end!!

my jw friend told me this from the meeting for service last week:.

one of the "sisters" told the group that she had spoken to (dave h*********) one of the bigwigs in this area, about the report.

he told her he had been to monroe prison, nearby, and asked about the pedophiles there and if any of them were jw's.

i am not an apostate from the watchtower organization and, of course, i was never baptized as a jehovah's witness.

however, when i was 17, i studied with the jehovah's witnesses for a couple of months, but quit.

Jesus, the Cross, and the Thief

so my old man and i went hunting the other day (he used to be a po, and myself an ms), and eventually the conversation came around to jw (he detests them after the fucked him over royal).

we start talking about jesus, and how the wts changes the comma when the bible says that jesus told the thief, "truly i tell you today, you will be with me in paradise".

however is aware that the greek had no punctuation and it probably should have the comma before "today".

Good reasoning!! I agree! The problem is the JWs have had to add a "comma" in order for the scriptures to seem to support their teaching that Jesus did not recieve his Kingship until 1914. If they left the comma out, like it read originally, it would seem to indicate that Jesus was going to be in his Kingdom immediatly following his death!

Also, they don't believe in salvation based on faith. They believe it has to be worked for. So since the guy didn't have a chance to "knock on doors" in their opinion, he couln't possibly recieve a "freebie" because he didn't work for it. They are so screwed up!!

Recently my Mother, an exJW, gave me a print out of all the places she could find in the Bible where it speaks of "works". Every place was speaking of doing good..not the kind of works the JWs pound in your head...meetings, hours in service...etc. It certainly is a eye opener for anyone who still believes that their salvation is based on their meeting attendance or hourly report!

JWs just cannot comprehend that love of God and neighbor, the two commands Jesus gave his followers, would move them to do "good works" for God and neighbor. The message is so simple..one of faith and love..that most JWs miss it all together! That is why so many are on depression medication, because they feel like they could never possibly "earn" salvation! I am so glad I am out from under that HEAVY YOKE! Indeed Jesus message is light and refreshing!

hello folks.

i posted one topic in the "relationships" section of this board, but just wanted to say a few words, and introduce myself, i am tank.

i was just curious, this is a jw board, i was expecting to find 80% of the members, or posts, to be of diehard, hardcore jw's, trying to preach there beliefs or there views, but yet, almost every thread i read has to do with someone leaving, already left, or a story of when they left, nonetheless, all the stories lead away from the jw religion.

My husband and I were raised in the cult, and it wasn't until the last 3 years that we have been out. Many familes end up in divirce when one wants to leave the organization. on october 6th i registered in this forum, and gave a brief description of my personal experience, promising i would expand later.

the time has gone by very rapidly, other different priorities have kept me away from this forum, which i will not cover otherwise i would take even more time going down to the core of the subject.

my objective, in this forum, is to be of help to others who might be at a loss and who are confronted with the difficult issue of being loyal or leave the organization.
